HOW IT WORKS

What does Schema Markup check?

Scans your page for existing schema.org markup (JSON-LD, Microdata, RDFa), validates each graph against Google's structured data requirements, and generates correct JSON-LD for missing types. Actively tracks Google's schema policy timeline: FAQPage rich results retired for ALL sites May 7, 2026 (supersedes Aug 2023 gov/health restriction), HowTo rich results removed September 2023, SpecialAnnouncement deprecated July 2025, and CourseInfo/EstimatedSalary/LearningVideo retired June 2025. For e-commerce, hasAdultConsideration required for adult products as of May 2026.

Each category produces a pass/warn/fail status with a score out of 100. Issues are prioritized into 4 severity levels: Critical (fix immediately), High (fix within 1 week), Medium (fix within 1 month), and Low (backlog).

CATEGORIES
01

Detection

Scans page source for JSON-LD (preferred), Microdata (itemscope/itemprop), and RDFa (typeof/property). Identifies all existing schema types.

02

Validation

Checks required properties per schema type, validates against Google's supported rich result types. Flags missing @context, invalid @type, wrong data types, placeholder text, relative URLs, and invalid date formats.

03

Generation

Generates correct JSON-LD for missing schema types. Supports Organization, LocalBusiness, Product (with Certification markup as of April 2025), Article, BlogPosting, VideoObject, BreadcrumbList, Person, Event, JobPosting, and more.

04

Compliance

Tracks Google policy changes: FAQPage retired for all sites May 2026, HowTo removed Sept 2023, SpecialAnnouncement deprecated July 2025, CourseInfo/EstimatedSalary/LearningVideo retired June 2025, ClaimReview retired June 2025, PracticeProblem support removed Jan 2026.

SCORING

How are issues categorized?

FAQ
What schema formats are supported?▼
JSON-LD (preferred), Microdata, and RDFa. JSON-LD is recommended as it's Google's preferred format. However, per Google's December 2025 JS SEO guidance, structured data injected via JavaScript may face delayed processing. For time-sensitive markup (Product, Offer), always include JSON-LD in the initial server-rendered HTML.
What schema types are currently active vs deprecated?▼
ACTIVE: Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, Article, BlogPosting, VideoObject, BreadcrumbList, Person, Event, JobPosting, Course, DiscussionForumPosting, QAPage. RETIRED FOR ALL SITES: FAQPage (May 7, 2026 — no Google SERP benefit, flag as Info not Critical). DEPRECATED: HowTo (Sept 2023), SpecialAnnouncement (July 2025), CourseInfo/EstimatedSalary/LearningVideo (June 2025), ClaimReview (June 2025), PracticeProblem (Jan 2026).
What about FAQPage? Can I still use it?▼
Google retired FAQ rich results for ALL sites on May 7, 2026. There is no Google SERP rich-result benefit. However, flagging existing FAQPage as Info (not Critical) rather than removal. For genuine user Q&A pages, use QAPage instead.
